U.S. Marshals Auctions
(An excerpt from 69
Ways To Make Money In Real Estate)
By Steve Gillman - 2005
Advantages:
You might get a great deal at one of these auctions.
Disadvantages:
There will be competition, and they do try to get market value.
The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) offers property for sale
to the public which has been forfeited under laws enforced or
administered by the United States Department of Justice, its
investigative agencies (Drug Enforcement Administration, Federal
Bureau of Investigation, and Immigration and Naturalization Service,
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms), and certain other federal
law enforcement agencies. More than 14,000 items of forfeited
property are sold annually with gross sales of $200 million.
The property offered for sale consists of residential, commercial
real estate, land, business establishments, financial instruments
and a wide range of personal property such as motor vehicles,
boats, aircraft, jewelry, art, antiques, and collectibles.
There are occasionally some good deals to be found here on
real estate. You can even take a look at the properties online.
